Babar Azam became the fastest batsman to score a millennium in the Twenty20 format as Pakistan eyed whitewash against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday.
In what was his 26th T20 appearance, Babar Azam shattered the record held by Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who himself had achieved the milestone in 27 T20 matches.
Sunday’s tally put Azam a well over 1,000 runs at a healthy average of 52.88. His highest score in the format remains at 97*, whereas his strike rate is 123.47.
