SC slaps ban on airing Indian content on Pakistani channels

SC slaps ban on airing Indian content on Pakistani channels
Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Saturday slapped ban on broadcasting Indian content on Pakistan’s channel.

As per details garnered, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) resumed hearing on the appeal challenging verdict of Lahore High Court (LHC) which scraped ban imposed on airing Indian content on Pakistani channels here in SC’s Karachi Registry today.

“India is shrinking flow of water into Pakistan and [forcing us to] close our dams. Why shouldn’t we close their channels”, remarked CJP.

CJP suspended verdict of the high court in this regard which allowed airing Indian content on Pakistani channels.

LHC—in its verdict—declared that ban imposed by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority ban on airing Indian teleplays null and void after the federal government told the court that it has no objections on Pakistani private TV channels telecasting Indian TV shows.
