Processions were taken out and congregations were also be held in every major city of the country to remember the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (as).
The Chehlum observance takes place 40 days after the Day of Ashura, and commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (as) and his 72 companions by Yazidi forces in the Battle of Karbala in 61 A.H.
Foolproof security arrangements were made for the processions to avoid any untoward incident.
Karachi:
In Karachi, main procession in this regard was taken out from Nishtar Park which after passing through its traditional route of MA Jinnah road, Empress market and Regal chowk culminated at Imam Bargah Hussania Irania Kharadar in the evening.
Similar security measures have been deployed in other major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
Rawalpindi:
In Rawalpindi, main procession in this regard was taken out from Imbargah Ashiq Hussain after passing through its traditional route of MA Raja Bazar, culminated at kadimi Imam Bargah in the evening.
