Pakistan Day celebrations begin with dazzling fireworks across country


ISLAMABAD: In line with tradition, the citizens of Karachi gathered at Quaid’s mausoleum late on Thursday to witness the dazzling fireworks show that enlightened the sky in the port city to mark the Pakistan Day celebrations.

While a spectacular fireworks show was also  ushered at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore, attracting hordes of spectators from everywhere to the historic monument.

March 23rd has enormous significance for Pakistan and its citizens. In historical context, that was the day when the idea of a separate homeland-Pakistan crystalised into a struggle and a mass movement on the part of Indian Muslims.

Bahria Town is also arranging the grand celebrations to mark the 78th Pakistan Day in Karachi on Friday at 8:00pm that will feature customised fountain performance, music and games, while flavoursome food at leading local and international food outlets at the carnival will add to the joy of this national event.

While aerobatic maneuvers of fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will also delight a large number of people in a spectacular way outside the parade venue in Islamabad to celebrate the mega event of Pakistan Day (Resolution Day).

Pakistan Day would be celebrated across the country with zeal and zest on Friday. Special programmes and seminars would be organised by different organisations to mark the occasion across the country.

The day would dawn with a 21-gun salute in Lahore, while the national flag would be hoisted at all government buildings and departments. Several buildings, including the Lahore Railway Station, WAPDA House and the Provincial Assembly building, are decorated with lights and colourful buntings to mark the national day.
