Did’ Not Come To Power To Make Poor Homeless But Unearth Corruption: Naqvi
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi, lashing out at the Sindh government for alleged corrupt practices, said the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), was run by ‘thieves’.

The opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly (SA) was addressing a press conference here on Sunday.

He said that people didn’t even read the court order and turned thieves into heroes. “The thieves are saying that they will not let any building be demolished,” he remarked.

The court didn’t order demolition of any building, said PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi.

Naqvi, said the provincial government provided an escape route to ‘looters’ involved in plundering national wealth.

He said none of the buildings in the province, especially Karachi, couldn’t be erected without the SBCA permission.

“Who gave the permission to build such a large number of wedding halls in the city,” he questioned.

Naqvi said the PPP Minister Saeed Ghani threatened to give resignation if he was forced to order demolishing structure.

“The SBCA operates under the authority of the minister, so who gave the orders for all those illegal constructions,” the PTI lawmaker asked.

“I challenge Saeed Ghani and mayor Waseem Akhtar to resign, and if they really dare to take this step, I will also quit,” he stated.

The legislator clarified that the court order nowhere mentions razing of 500 marriage halls. The PTI leader also said there would no commercial constructions in cantonment areas.

Taking a jibe at the PPP, he said the corruption of Asif Ali Zardari would soon be unearthed and said ” Papa, Phopho and Papu will go to jail”

It is pertinent to mention here that, on January 24, the Supreme Court ordered the Sindh government to expedite the process of improving Karachi’s infrastructure. The court ordered the Sindh government to call a cabinet meeting and submit a report in two weeks. The top court wants the city’s master plan too. Justice Ahmed said that the court wants the master plan, which was approved in 1960.
