Light rain in parts of country turns weather chilly

Light rain and snowfall in parts of country.
Light rain in Lahore and its adjacent area in the wee hours of Wednesday brought the mercury further down and turned the weather cold.

Rain was also reported in Sialkot, Mian Channu, Attock, Bahawalnagar and Jahanian. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current rain spell will continue for the next 24 hours.

A sudden downpour in Karachi Wednesday night left citizens overjoyed, especially with no power outage reported apart from in Malir and North Karachi. 

The rain and strong winds, however, turned the weather chilly, possibly extending the spell of winter in the metropolis. 

Areas that saw rainfall/drizzle included Saudabad, Jinnah Square, Malir, North Karachi, and Gulistan-e-Johar, Lasbela, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sohrab Goth, Clifton, and Defence.

According to Met Office, widespread rain is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir, while at scattered places in Bannu, D.I.Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, D.G.Khan, divisions, while at isolated places in Mirpurkhas division during next 24 hours.

Snowfall over the hills is also expected in Malakand division (Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba and Upper Dir), Hazara division, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
