Wilders, in a written statement late Thursday, said he has decided "not to let the cartoon contest go ahead."
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan's ambassador to Holland also confirmed cancellation of the controversial contest.
The planned contest had earlier sparked protest demonstrations in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, FM Qureshi and other Pakistani politicians voiced their concerns over the controversial contest.
Khan on Thursday said he would move the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) in an effort to raise the issue of blasphemous caricatures in the United Nations.
Speaking in a video statement published on social media, the prime minister said the West doesn’t understand that our perspective towards religion is quite different from theirs.
"The matter of blasphemous caricatures is an issue of every Muslim," he said.
