MMA, PML-N Hosted APC Underway in Islamabad

The All Parties Conference (APC) hosted by Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) aimed to draft strategy against alleged poll rigging in general election 2018 underway in Islamabad.

All the political parties, who have the reservation on poll results have been invited for APC to devised the future course of action.

The meeting, which is being chaired by PML-N president Shehbaz and JUI-F chief Fazalur Rehman, will focus on parties’ plan of action regarding the results of the General Election 2018. APC is being held at JI leader Mian Aslam’s house in Sector F-8.

Head of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Sherpao, chief minister Gilgit Baltistan Sardar Mehtab, Khurram Dastgir, Sirjual Haq, Akram Durrani, AJK PM, Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair and MQMs’ Farooq Sattar are also attending the meeting.

PML-N leaders Shehbaz, Sardar Mehtab, Khurram Dastgir and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi along with JUI-F’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Akram Durrani are attending the party.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday attended the All Parties Conference called by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz contrary to Rabitta Committee’s decision.

The party’s decision-making body decided to not send their representatives in the APC called by the opposition parties in formulating a joint strategy against the election results after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen approached the party to discuss a possible alliance.

“Kanwar Naveed Jameel is in contact with the Rabitta Committee not me. I was not conveyed decision taken by the committee on the APC,” Sattar said.

MQM-Pakistan leader Amir Khan rejected Sattar’s claim by maintaining that Rabitta Committee categorically told Sattar to not attend the APC.

“It was a decision taken by the Rabitta Committee to not attend the APC,” the senior MQM leader said.

Earlier, The PPP and MQM-P have decided not to attend a multi-party conference (MPC) called by the MMA and PML-N on Friday to devise a joint strategy over alleged rigging in the 2018 general elections.

The provisional, official poll results late Thursday showed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), headed by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, in lead.
