The conflicts occurred as Tareen on Saturday met with independent candidate Salman Naeem who has claimed victory in PP-127 constituency. Naeem had contested elections against Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his victory has shattered dreams of PTI’s vice-president of becoming chief minister of Punjab. Naeem bagged 35,294 votes against Mr Qureshi’s 31,716.
Fumed Qureshi inquired Tareen that why latter had met with the candidate [read Salman Naeem] facing accusations of violating party’s code of conduct. Owing to violations, Naeem was denied PTI’s ticket for contesting elections on provincial assembly’s seat.
On the other hand, PTI leader Naeemul Haque had overtly dismissed news of conflicts within party’s ranks. He asserted that party remains united under the dynamic leadership of PM-in-waiting Imran Khan.
It would be suffice here to say PTI Chairman Imran Khan has confessed to existence of different factions within the party led by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former general secretary Jahangir Khan Tareen.
