The NAB has tightened the noose against Shahbaz Sharif further as the anti-graft body has started an investigation for paying consultants during the last ten years in Punjab.
The anti-corruption body sources said that despite having qualified persons in the government departments they bestowed consultancy firm with the huge amount of money who conducted an election campaign for the ruling party.
Shahbaz Sharif paid more than Rs 20 billion to consultants in his two government tenure from 2008 to 2018.
The NAB sources said that Punjab government paid an amount of Rs 490.80 million on four coal power plants, an amount of Rs 120.75 million on Khadim Punjab rural road program while an amount of Rs 200 million on feasibility study report for installation of cable cars in Muree.
Sources said that the NAB has asked the Planning and Development Department, Department of Finance and other concerned departments to submit record in this regard.
