PTI nominates three names for caretaker Punjab CM
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has put forward the names of Hassan Askari, Ayaz Amir and Yaqub Izhar for the post of caretaker chief minister of Punjab, the party’s spokesman confirmed on twitter

Earlier it was reported that Orya Maqbool Jan was also among the names proposed by the PTI.

The former opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mehmmod-ur-Rasheed said new names had been proposed by the party. Rasheed said he suggested the three names to former speaker of Punjab Assembly during a meeting earlier today. "The names were suggested after discussion among party members," he continued.

The names proposed by the former opposition leader included Orya Maqbool Jan, Yaqub Izhar and Hassan Askari.

The former opposition leader upheld that the outgoing provincial government of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) has promised that one of the names suggested by PTI would be taken into consideration.

"Meetings over the matter will continue until the final call is made," he added.

The former opposition leader assured that a name for the caretaker chief minister would be decided by Sunday.

"The caretaker chief minister for Punjab would be finalised by June 3," the PTI leader said.

According to sources, PML-N has also suggested two names for the slot of interim Punjab chief minister.

A day earlier, the PTI which was in the opposition in Punjab Assembly, proposed the names of defence analyst Dr Hassan Askari and former inspector general of police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani. The latter excused himself from candidature citing health issues as the reason.

Further on Wednesday, PTI withdrew the nomination of former bureaucrat Nasir Mahmood Khosa as caretaker Punjab chief minister.
